The Kayan National Education Committee (KNEC) was established on March 3, 2022. Due to the military coup, many lost their right to education, leading to the emergence of national schools within the Kayan region.
It is a national education department formed in collaboration with educational associations within Kayan and scholars from both home and abroad.
Goal
To create a community that enhances educational capacity and benefits all of humanity.
Vision
- To enable all youth in the Kayan region to access federal democratic education and international education standards.
- To ensure that ethnic youth in the Kayan region acquire high-quality skills and have secure job opportunities.
- To practically establish quality education from basic to university level based on equality, justice, and self-determination for each ethnicity, region, and school.
- To develop a mother tongue-based multilingual education system.
- To formulate educational policies in consultation with all stakeholders, including student unions, teacher unions, parent representatives, school committees, local education organizations, and KNEC's education zone representatives.
- To provide free basic education for every child in the Kayan region.
Intention
To facilitate and streamline the implementation of educational activities in community-based primary, middle, and high schools under the Kayan National Education framework.
